Create a Static Home Page for Your Joomla Website

Many people want to have a static front page for their website. Below is a method you can use to convert a normal Joomla article in to a static front page. (Please not this method greatly depend on your Joomla template and may not work for your template)

First go to Category Manager and create a category with name "Do not use category". Then go to Article Manager and create an article and save it. Make sure you select the category "Do not use category" while saving. Now click on the "Article Options" and hide all the unwanted things like title, category, author etc and save it.

Now go to your Menu Manager and add a new menu item. In the "Menu Item Type" select "Single Article". In the "Menu Title" enter "Home" (to indicate its the home page). Now select "Yes" for the "Default Page" option. On the right side, Required Settings, select the article you just created. Again on the right side "Page Display Options", you can set the browser title as "Welcome to my website" etc. Now save the menu item and go to your website. The first page displayed will be the Home Page article.

You further adjust the Article Options and Menu Item Options to get the desired static home page effect.
